“Providing access to justice both for victims of family violence and for other poor families who are in need of legal service is often a matter of life and death. To make real change happen for our families, we need to make sure that all who are in need have access to justice. There is real urgency to take action now.”
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

The Diane Halle Center for Family Justice promotes the well-being and protects the human rights of children and families through multi-disciplinary initiatives in education, advocacy, and scholarship. The Center provides free or reduced-fee legal representation, advice and support to victims of family violence, child abuse, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and other vulnerable populations that the private market would otherwise fail. In collaboration with donors and community partners, the Center has instituted five key educational and advocacy programs, each incorporating scholarship as a critical component:
The Ruth V. McGregor Family Protection Clinic combines classroom and experiential learning components to teach law students holistic legal advocacy, preparing students to appear in court by providing intensive instruction in client counseling, evidence, civil procedure, and legal ethics, as well as the civil, family, and criminal law applicable to domestic violence litigation.
The Medical-Legal Partnership brings together healthcare and legal professionals who share overlapping missions: to promote the health and well-being of vulnerable and underserved populations. By leveraging the resources and expertise of two powerful professions, the Partnership offers holistic care to Arizona’s neediest individuals and families by offering free legal advice to patients identified by partnering healthcare providers.
The Sex-Trafficking Program uses innovative advocacy to promote safety, healing, resiliency, and long-term life plans for sex trafficking victims through direct legal representation and ancillary resource assistance.
Through the AVON Economic Empowerment Program, the Center works directly with survivors of domestic violence to assist them with finding job training, employment, transportation, housing, counseling, and the skills to maintain employment and achieve permanent financial well-being.
As part of the Center's growth strategy, an Access to Justice Program will be added. Through it, individuals in need of legal representation and guidance beyond that offered through the Center's other programs will be able to obtain direct legal advice and representation for free or dramatically reduced fees.
