Faculty and Staff Tech Support

The Help Desk provides support for The College of Law.
Our Hours are: 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday
Phone: 480-965-8181
Email: Law-q@asu.edu (This will generate a help ticket to us)

Here is a list of Commonly asked Questions for Faculty.

Submitting Support Requests

We prefer requests be submitted via email or through our Help page if the issue is not urgent.
Issues that require immediate response or problems with a classroom can be reported to us by phone.

Our Help Page is used to submit tickets which will be held in Queue until resolved. This is the preferred method since it does not go to a single person which helps the response time to your request.

Please include as much information as you can about the issue. If you can, tell us what happened at the moment of the problem, events leading up to the issue, and if it has occured before. This can help in narrowing down the cause.

You can submit requests through our Help Page HERE
To follow up you can check HERE.

You can also email LAW-Q@ASU.EDU and it will automatically generate a help ticket

Blackboard

Training

The Distance Learning Center provides a lot of different training workshops. They usually have a couple blackboard training courses at the beginning of the semester. Contact them if a course isn't available. They may be waiting for more entrants before starting a class.

BB Frequently Asked Questions (Great database built by main campus)

Course creation

All College of Law Blackboard courses are managed in house. Please contact the Help Desk if you need a course created. All courses created with a Law prefix will not be approved by Main Campus Support.

We send out an email approximately one month before the start of the semester asking about special requests for the upcoming class. By default a basic blank course will be created for each class every semester.

Connecting from home

File Access/Remote Connection

There are two main ways to get to your information from home. Remote connection and linking to your H drive(personal drive). Please contact us to determine which is the best solution for you.

Want Outlook at home?

UTO has created a great page on setting Outlook up at home so you do not need to use the VPN.
Here is the LINK

Outlook Inbox limit

The Inbox(Server) has a limit of Two Gigabytes. Once at the limit you will receive an email of undeliverable and "Mailbox exceed limits". You must save files to an archive to free up the Inbox/Server.
Please contact the Help Desk if you get this message. We will make sure you have an archive set up correctly so you can sort through the emails and free up the inbox.

Classroom Support

All of the Classrooms have a Computer with Internet, Projector & Screen, and DVD player at a minimum.
Most will also have a connection for a Laptop and Document Camera.

Depending on room and staff availability we may also be able to provide:

Audio Recording
Video Recording
Guest Presenter support
Additional Equipment(Microphones, speakers, projectors, etc)

Event or Conference Support

Events and Conference can provide their own set of issues. It is best to contact I.T. if you are planning an event so we can help with any technological requirements you may need.

Early notice is appreciated as staff and equipment availablity may be limited.
