Scholarships
The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law benefits greatly from the generosity of many friends and supporters. Through that support, we are able to award a wide variety of scholarships each academic year. Some scholarships are awarded to recruit new students to the J.D. program. Others are offered to continuing students based upon application, academic performance, financial need, interest in a particular practice area, community service, leadership, perspectives on the profession, and a variety of other factors. Please see the
scholarship listing
for examples of these awards.
All incoming first-year students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. Admitted students will be notified if additional information is required in order to be considered for any award. Any recruitment award made for the second or third year of study is
conditioned
only upon the student maintaining good academic standing (avoiding probation) and being enrolled in a full-time, law school course load at ASU. In the last three years, no student has lost a recruiting scholarship in his/her second or third year of study as a result of academic probation.
Important notes:
Remember that a student is only allowed to receive financial aid equal to, but not greater than, his or her Cost of Attendance. Therefore, a student being awarded a scholarship will not receive additional funds but will find that the award helps to reduce total borrowing for that term.
Any ASU law student visiting at another law school will not be eligible for any scholarships offered through ASU College of Law for the term(s) for which he/she is enrolled at another institution. Further, a student visiting ASU from another law school will not be eligible for any scholarships offered through ASU College of Law.
