    Student Organizations

There are almost 30 Student Organizations at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law along with about 20 Pro Bono Groups. All the student groups are law school organizations, even though we typically do not include the Pro Bono Groups when we refer to "Student Orgs." Every student organization has its own membership application process (including, in some cases, dues/fees). Contact the organization's student leaders (who can be found by clicking on any of the groups) for more information. Many students join more than one Student Organization (in addition to joining more than one Pro Bono Group). If you are interested in a particular student organization, you should attend a meeting or two and speak to the current members and leadership.

Being an active part of a student organization opens a variety of experiences to you. The organizations serve various purposes and use different leadership structures. Some groups sponsor professional presentations; others have annual activities; others are closely affiliated with Pro Bono Groups. You are not required to serve a leadership role while in law school, but the potential is there if it is something you desire.

Whether you are a new law student, visitor, transfer student, or soon-to-be graduate -- you can and should become involved with student organizations.

    Overview of Student Groups

Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law is proud to be home to almost 30 Student Organizations. The benefits from participating in these organizations are as diverse as our student body:

    • Exposure to specific areas of the law and Valley legal leaders
    • Support for the law school experience
    • A coming together of students who share similar backgrounds/interests
    • A vehicle for community involvement/social change
    • Membership in national legal organizations
    • A social outlet
    • Networking opportunities with local attorneys

Despite their diverse natures, all of the groups have at least one thing in common: they each provide ASU law students with a unique opportunity to connect with other students who share their interests/needs. We encourage you to take a close look at our many Student Organizations.  If you cannot find an organization that meets your needs, please consider organizing a new group. You'll be sure to find other students who share your ideas and passions.

Our website includes a great deal of information to help students better understand the role and function of Student Organizations at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at ASU. If you do not see your question, or a provided answer is unclear, please email Vivian Corral-Nava, Director of Admissions, so this site may be updated.
