On February 9, 2012, law students visited each of three 8th grade civics classes taught by Mark Cable at Lattie Coor Elementary School in Avondale, Arizona. As part of the Junior Law program, the law students led the 8th graders in a Fourth Amendment analysis of an administrator’s search of a student’s belongings in high school and then introduced them to computer games at www.icivics.org, which help teach constitutional rights. The visit was organized by 3L Mark Jackson. Law students Chloe Woods, Jeanine Gregory, Mackenzie Woods, and Lori Goslar taught the classes.
Mr. Cable remarked that “I was very pleased with how the day went. My students enjoyed presentation, and of course they especially liked the game on icivics. A big thank you to everyone, especially to Jeanine, Chloe and Mackenzie for taking the time from their very busy and demanding schedules to work with the students here at Lattie Coor.”
