Executive Moot Court Board
Frequently Asked Questions
External Competitions
Law schools and organizations throughout the world host moot court competitions, providing a plethora of opportunities for students. The Moot Court Board will provide guidance for ASU law students who have formed their own teams and wish to participate in an external competition. These competitions require a concentrated team effort and teams are judged on both oral and written components.
Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition
The Jessup competition is the only official school-sponsored traveling moot court team. The team is coordinated by Professor Sylvester. More information can be found at
www.ilsa.org/jessup/
.
Mediation
The Mediation competition is uniquely both an internal and external competition. Sponsored and organized by the
Lodestar Mediation Clinic
, two-person student teams compete in two rounds. The school winners then travel to the regional competition.
Student Organizations
Many student organizations have a tradition of organizing their own teams for particular competitions. For example, the Native American Law Students Association (NALSA) sends a team to the National NALSA Moot Court Competition. Interested students should contact student organizations to inquire as to in which competitions they participate.
Other Competitions
Below is a list of some of the many external competitions available, but students may participate in any approved competition.
