What led you to give back to ASU Law?
Giving back to ASU Law helps me acknowledge and pay tribute to the organization that was the launching pad for what has been a rewarding and satisfying legal career that has allowed me, in turn, to help create opportunities for others.
Why do you feel it is important to philanthropically support ASU Law?
It is important to give current students greater and more enhanced opportunities than those before. This helps students become the best version of themselves and give them the confidence to be leaders so that they can have the greatest impact on the future generations in the legal profession or any other profession or endeavor they may eventually pursue.
What excites you the most about the future and our next generation of lawyers and legal sector leaders?
The emphasis on greater diversity in the workplace. Increased diversity in race, gender, ethnic group, age, personality, and life experiences will positively impact business culture, communications, and foster creative solutions to increasingly complex problems.
What advice do you have for our students as they embark on the next chapter of their lives?
Determine your personal definition of success and that definition necessarily will not be the same for everyone. Success means different things to different people. Is it personal satisfaction from the challenge of your legal work? Is it donating time to pro bono projects? Is it becoming involved in your local community? Is it making money? Is it achieving work/life balance? Or is it some other definition of success? Once you define success to you, then be true to that definition throughout your life as opposed to trying to be true to what others think a successful lawyer is.
Make Your Impact
It is only through the incredible support of generous donors like Cynthia Ricketts that we are able to offer scholarships to 100% of our incoming JD students. A gift in support of student success is a gift in support of our community’s success.
Please consider investing in ASU Law and the bright young legal minds of tomorrow by making an impact today.
