ASU Law Dean named President of the University of Tulsa; Vice Dean Angela Banks to serve as Interim Dean
Arizona State University announced that Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law Dean Stacy Leeds will become president of the University of Tulsa effective July 1, 2026, and Vice Dean Angela Banks will serve as interim dean while the university begins a search for a permanent replacement.
Arizona State University has announced that Stacy Leeds, dean of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law will become the next president of the University of Tulsa, effective July 1, 2026.

Leeds, who has served on the ASU Law faculty for six years and as dean since 2023, shared the news with colleagues and reflected on her time leading the law school. During her tenure, Leeds helped advance the law school’s momentum through innovation, strategic planning and a deep commitment to student success.
ASU Executive Vice President and University Provost Nancy Gonzales has named Vice Dean and Charles J. Merriam Distinguished Professor of Law Angela Banks as interim dean, effective July 1, 2026. The university will begin the process of appointing a search committee to identify the law school’s next dean.
Leeds said she remains focused on finishing the academic year strong, including faculty hiring decisions, recruitment of the incoming class and several upcoming events. She also expressed gratitude to the ASU Law community for its support and partnership.
The Indian Legal Program, in partnership with the Native American Rights Fund, honored alumni and leaders advancing Tribal justice, while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Tribal Supreme Court Project and the program’s growing national impact.
