The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law looks forward to celebrating its Class of 2025 Master of Legal Studies (MLS) and Master of Human Resources and Employment Law (MHREL) degree candidates at the Spring 2025 Convocation ceremony.

Graduate check-in

Check-in will be in the hallway on the first floor of the Beus Center for Law and Society (BCLS) outside of Room 150. Graduates should plan to arrive with their regalia and check in no later than 6:30 p.m. 

Bag policy

Bags up to 12” x 6” x 12” are allowed in the venue. A small clutch or purse is allowed, but no backpacks, please. Clear bags are not mandatory. All bags will be searched before entry. Bags that are not clear will be subject to additional searches. 

Balloons, confetti, flower vases, laser pointers, large signs, selfie sticks, flash photography and horns are not permitted.

Ticket information

Those participating in the MLS/MHREL ceremony receive ten (10) tickets each. Tickets for convocation are issued through Marching Order. Please have your guests print and/or have them ready to view on their cell phones to enter the ceremony.

Parking

Complimentary short-term parking will be available in the BCLS parking garage. Enter the garage off of Second Street, between Taylor and Polk streets. Please note that the BCLS parking garage opens at 6 p.m. After the conclusion of graduation, all cars must leave the parking garage.

Longer-term paid visitor parking will also be available in the University Center (UCENT) parking garage or Taylor Street Garage.

Convocation speakers

Marjorie Herrera Lewis

Marjorie Herrera Lewis (MLS, 2024)

Sportswriter, novelist and college professor

Marjorie Herrera Lewis is a two-time Arizona State University graduate and holds three master’s degrees and a doctorate, including an MLS degree from ASU Law. She was recently named commissioner of the Global Flag Football League and now leads its inaugural season. She also co-hosts Journey Through Sports and Life, a weekly show on DBTV.

In the 1980s, Lewis became the first female sportswriter to cover the Dallas Cowboys for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, later continuing NFL coverage at The Dallas Morning News. Her debut novel, When the Men Were Gone, was named a best book by Sports Illustrated and is being developed by Mandalay Films.

Since the 1990s, she has taught at Dallas College, UT Arlington, the University of Tulsa and the University of North Texas. She recently joined ASU Law as associate faculty.

Neda Mirmesdagh

Candidate, Master of Legal Studies

Neda Mirmesdagh is a first-generation graduate who will earn a Master of Human Resources and Employment Law degree with distinction from Arizona State University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and several SHRM certifications. As a dedicated employee of Cornell University, Neda will transition into the human resources department, where she will collaborate with the director of human resources to support recruitment, hiring and employee relations. Drawing on her education from the ASU Law, Neda is committed to ensuring legal compliance and ethical business practices while fostering positive change in corporate culture. She aims to create inclusive work environments where every employee feels valued, supported and empowered. Neda credits the faculty at ASU Law for challenging her to think critically and analytically, helping her navigate complex legal issues with confidence. She is the recipient of the ASU Law Outstanding Master of Human Resources and Employment Law graduate award.

Grad Images was the official photographer for ASU ceremonies. They took pictures during the ceremony from three locations as you walked across the stage. You will be sent a complimentary proof of your photos. Purchasing pictures taken by Grad Images is optional. If you did not give us permission to send your contact information to Grad Images, you will not receive a proof.
