Professor Laura Coordes takes on legal reform while keeping her students front and center

Laura Coordes, professor of law at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, wears many hats. In addition to teaching and mentoring students, she plays a key role in shaping national policy as the reporter for the Uniform Law Commission’s Drafting Committee on Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors. In that position, she is responsible for turning the committee’s ideas into the official language of a proposed uniform law. She also collaborates with other committees and leaders to ensure the draft reflects the group’s goals while staying consistent with broader Uniform Law Commission rules and policies.

ASU Law’s Myles Lynk honored with ABA’s top ethics award

Myles Lynk, dean of the ASU Emeritus College and a professor emeritus in the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, has been named the 2025 recipient of the American Bar Association’s Michael Franck Professional Responsibility Award. This is the ABA’s highest honor for outstanding contributions to legal ethics and professional responsibility.

Patty Ferguson-Bohnee holds many titles: the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University’s associate dean for inclusive excellence, Charles M. Brewer professor of trial advocacy, faculty director of Indian Legal Program and director of the Indian Legal Clinic. Now, she’s adding “outstanding woman in business” to her ever-growing collection of milestones, joining 24 other remarkable women as a recipient of this year’s Phoenix Business Journal Outstanding Women in Business award, recognizing her years of work at a ceremony on March 26.

ASU Law plays key role in 2025 ABA Midyear Conference

The American Bar Association’s midyear conference was held in downtown Phoenix from Jan. 29 to Feb. 3. The event, held at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, brought together more than 600 lawyers and judges from across the country. Attendees participated in 14 programs over two days covering topics such as solo and small firm practices, as well as insights from federal judges on their careers, lawyering and clerking.
