Students finance their legal education through a variety of options. ASU Law students may finance their education through federal loans, private loans and summer financial aid. Eligibility depends on factors such as FAFSA completion, enrollment status, credit history and applicable federal aid requirements.
To be considered for financial assistance, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The type of aid awarded could be any combination of federal student loans. To receive federal financial aid, you must meet the eligibility criteria and enroll at least half-time each semester.
There are also a number of private loan programs available. Private alternative loan fees and interest rates vary by lender and are determined by the borrower's credit rating. ASU Law does not endorse any specific lenders, but there are several online resources from which you can choose a lender (e.g., U.S. Department of Education and FinAID.org).

Summer financial aid is available to students who enroll in the summer term, meet the eligibility criteria, and have a FAFSA on file for the current academic year. The offered awards are contingent upon enrollment in five (5) or more credit hours. Awards may consist of federal Stafford loans, federal Graduate PLUS loans (if eligible), and federal work-study. Financial aid is also available for exchange and study-abroad programs.

Students who receive financial aid are expected to earn their aid by participating in all of their classes every session.
Completing a survey in My ASU. This is the simplest way to confirm participation. Survey links will be available seven days after classes begin. You can access the surveys you need to complete next to each course listed in the My Courses box in My ASU. You will also see a task listed in your Priority Tasks box.
A Priority task in My ASU will link you to the participation survey(s) you need to complete. You will be notified by ASU email only if your participation has not been confirmed. After the 21st day, if you still have not participated in a course, your aid may be reduced or canceled. You will see this change in the Finances tab in My ASU almost immediately.
To remain eligible for federal financial aid, you must make satisfactory academic progress (SAP) as a student, meaning you need to make good enough grades, and successfully complete enough classes in a timely manner to demonstrate that you are successfully working toward your degree.
