The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law looks forward to celebrating its Class of 2025 Master of Sports Law and Business (MSLB) degree candidates at the Spring 2025 Convocation ceremony.

Graduate check-in

Check-in will be in the hallway on the first floor of the Beus Center for Law and Society (BCLS) outside of Room 150. Graduates should plan to arrive with their regalia and check in no later than 3:30 p.m. 

Bag policy

Bags up to 12” x 6” x 12” are allowed in the venue. A small clutch or purse is allowed, but no backpacks, please. Clear bags are not mandatory. All bags will be searched before entry. Bags that are not clear will be subject to additional searches. 

Balloons, confetti, flower vases, laser pointers, large signs, selfie sticks, flash photography and horns are not permitted.

Ticket information

Those participating in the MSLB ceremony receive ten (10) tickets each. Tickets for convocation are issued through Marching Order. Please have your guests print and/or have them ready to view on their cell phones to enter the ceremony.

Parking

Complimentary short-term parking will be available in the BCLS parking garage. Enter the garage off of Second Street, between Taylor and Polk streets. Please note that the BCLS parking garage opens at 3 p.m. After the conclusion of graduation, all cars must leave the parking garage.

Longer-term paid visitor parking will also be available in the University Center (UCENT) parking garage or Taylor Street Garage.

Convocation speakers

George H. McCaskey

George H. McCaskey (JD, 1983 and LLM, 2021)

Chicago Bears Chairman

George H. McCaskey is a three-time graduate of Arizona State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting in 1978, a JD in 1981 and an LLM with an emphasis in sports law in 2021.

He has served as the chairman of the board of the Chicago Bears since 2011 and is the grandson of George Halas, the founder of the Chicago Bears and the National Football League. As someone who grew up immersed in the Bears organization, he was able to work part-time as an office assistant at the team’s headquarters and spent summers as a ball boy at training camp.

In 2022, McCaskey began assisting Professor Eric Menkhus in teaching the online Business Organizations course at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.

Drew Schott

Candidate, Master of Sports Law and Business

Drew Schott graduated cum laude from Northwestern University in 2022 with a double major in journalism and political science. He previously covered national college football recruiting for On3 before enrolling in ASU Law’s Master of Sports Law and Business program. During his time in the program, Schott served as a business development intern at USA Triathlon and as a compliance intern at the University at Albany from April to August 2024. After graduation, Schott will pursue his JD at Tulane University Law School in New Orleans. He is the recipient of the ASU Law Rodney K. Smith Award.

Grad Images was the official photographer for ASU ceremonies. They took pictures during the ceremony from three locations as you walked across the stage. You will be sent a complimentary proof of your photos. Purchasing pictures taken by Grad Images is optional. If you did not give us permission to send your contact information to Grad Images, you will not receive a proof.
