ASU Law recognizes Sandra Day O'Connor Day
On this day in 1981, Sandra Day O'Connor made history as the first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Appointed by President Reagan and unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate, Justice O'Connor's 25-year tenure on the bench left an enduring impact on our nation's legal landscape. In 2019, Former Arizona Governor Doug Ducey designated September 25th as Sandra Day O'Connor Day, 38 years after the Arizona native took her oath.
Justice O'Connor was a trailblazer who broke down barriers for women in law. Throughout her career in public service, she impacted the lives of many. We honor her with gratitude and pride for her lasting contributions to society. |
