Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming how people live, work and solve problems—and the legal field is no exception. At ASU Law, AI is treated as a tool to advance justice, expand access and prepare future lawyers to lead by developing core competencies in AI and legal tech during their studies.

Innovation and access define ASU Law’s mission. As one the nation’s highest-ranked law schools offering Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Human Resources and Employment Law (MHREL), Master of Laws (LLM) and Master of Legal Studies (MLS) degrees fully online, the college integrates technology and AI to make legal education more inclusive and future graduates practice-ready. ASU Law was the first in the U.S. to allow generative AI in student applications and embed AI training across all degree programs.

AI refers to computer systems that perform tasks requiring human-like reasoning, such as analyzing data, identifying patterns or generating text. In law, AI assists with decision-making, legal research and document review—helping lawyers work more efficiently and focus on strategy and advocacy.
